Jon Weiss Jr. Claims Southern 500 Golf Invitational Championship

Two Darlington Country Club golf standouts battled it out over 54 holes with Jon Weiss Jr. winning the 61st annual Southern 500 Golf Invitational Presented by PolyQuest Aug. 22-24. Weiss Jr. edged nine-time tournament champion Jamie Stanley by two shots to win the coveted title in his first time playing in the historic amateur tournament.

Weiss Jr.’s three-round total of 201 (66, 67, 68) was 15 under par, while Stanley recorded a three-day total of 203 (67, 68, 68) to finish at 13 under par.

A Look Back at the 60th Annual Southern 500 Golf Invitational

Zach Herold of Lexington (SC) Country Club birdied the 54th and final hole of the tournament to edge three-time defending champ Jamie Stanley by one stroke on Sunday

Darlington Country Club Unveils Redesigned Golf Holes for 60th Southern 500 Golf Invitational

The Darlington Country Club is proud to announce the completion of a significant redesign of holes 15, 16, and 17, just in time for the 60th edition of the Southern 500 Golf Invitational. The renovations, officially unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 21, 2024, have transformed these key sections of the course, elevating it to one of the premier golf layouts in the region.

The redesign project was led by renowned golf architect Richard Mandell, known for his expertise in revitalizing classic courses while preserving their original charm. The renovations involved extensive planning and execution, resulting in a more challenging and visually stunning experience for golfers.
