A Look Back at the 60th Annual Southern 500 Golf Invitational

Zach Herold of Lexington (SC) Country Club birdied the 54th and final hole of the tournament to edge three-time defending champ Jamie Stanley by one stroke on Sunday

The tournament even featured some future participants who enjoyed the family-friendly festivities.

The tournament featured 106 participants from across the Southeast and beyond

Darlington Country Club Unveils Redesigned Golf Holes for 60th Southern 500 Golf Invitational

The Darlington Country Club is proud to announce the completion of a significant redesign of holes 15, 16, and 17, just in time for the 60th edition of the Southern 500 Golf Invitational. The renovations, officially unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 21, 2024, have transformed these key sections of the course, elevating it to one of the premier golf layouts in the region.

The redesign project was led by renowned golf architect Richard Mandell, known for his expertise in revitalizing classic courses while preserving their original charm. The renovations involved extensive planning and execution, resulting in a more challenging and visually stunning experience for golfers.

Returning to Our Roots: Redesign of Holes 15, 16, and 17

We’re excited to share the transformation of holes 15, 16, and 17. This redesign, led by renowned golf architect Richard Mandell (Richard Mandell Golf Architecture) marks a big step in our effort to bring the course back to its 1926 origins. By capitalizing on Darlington Country Club's sandy soils, we’re transitioning from a wall-to-wall grass and rough layout to one that embraces its natural features and highlights the course's historical charm.

The Darlington Country Club has been serving the community since 1926. The club is the home of a challenging 18-hole golf course and is set along the picturesque Black Creek. In addition to the golf course, the club features a newly renovated swimming pool, tennis and pickle ball courts, and a traditional design club house that can accommodate events of all types. The club offers dining at The Black Creek Grill and Bar and drinks at The Red Bar. Grab your food and drink and head out to Michael’s Porch to enjoy the outdoors. Everyone is welcome! If you're looking for a place to socialize, the Darlington Country Club is the perfect destination.

I play here pretty frequently and although I am not a member, I am treated as though I am one. Awesome staff, great food and nice conditions. Please remember to tip the desk attendant, I think a lot of folks forget that the customer service that you receive here is quite exceptional compared to other courses in the greater Florence area.
