Darlington Country Club Announces 2026 Centennial Celebration
Nucor Steel South Carolina Named Presenting Sponsor
Darlington Country Club proudly announces the upcoming launch of its Centennial Celebration in 2026, commemorating 100 years of community, fellowship, championship golf and social recreation. In honor of this historic milestone, DCC is pleased to welcome Nucor Steel South Carolina as the Presenting Sponsor of the year-long celebration.
Founded in 1926, Darlington Country Club has been a cornerstone of the Pee Dee region’s social and recreational life for generations. What began as a modest nine-hole course has grown into a vibrant club steeped in tradition, offering golf, dining, tennis, pickleball, events, and family-focused amenities that continue to evolve with the community it serves.
The 2026 Centennial Celebration will feature a full calendar of events, including:
- Centennial Gala … A New Year’s Celebration (members & their guests)
- Member-Member Golf Tournament
- Weekend & Legacy Dinner
- Community Open House & Family Day
- Memorial Day Centennial Celebration
- July 4 Centennial Celebration
- Labor Day Weekend Centennial Celebration
- Other family and youth events
As Presenting Sponsor, Nucor Steel South Carolina will play a key role in supporting these experiences and helping share the story of Darlington Country Club’s past, present, and future. Additionally, Nucor’s sponsorship will help support “Friends of Southern 500 Junior Golf,” which is the newly formed 501 © (3) non-profit entity formed from the Southern 500 Golf Invitational. “Friends of Southern 500 Junior Golf” will help support, develop, and inspire young golfers in the Darlington community and surrounding area by providing access to educational programs, competitive opportunities, and resources that foster personal growth, sportsmanship, and a lifelong love for the game.
“We are excited about our upcoming Centennial and the opportunity it presents to recognize 100 years of growth and excellence with our Club,” said Tim Huntley, who along with his wife, Nancy, owns DCC. “We are honored to partner with Nucor Steel South Carolina as we celebrate our Centennial. Their long-standing commitment to excellence in our community makes them an ideal partner as we reflect on our history and look ahead to the next 100 years. More importantly, their support of community initiatives like “Friends of Southern 500 Junior Golf” has long been a trademark of the Nucor brand.”
Nucor is North America’s largest steel manufacturer and recycler. Nucor’s first steel mill, built in Darlington, SC, in 1969, has been producing high-quality steel for the construction, manufacturing, and automotive industries ever since. Nucor Steel South Carolina’s success and continued growth have been driven by the dedication and hard work of both current and former teammates and contractors from the Darlington community and surrounding counties.
“We are proud to support the Darlington Country Club’s Centennial,” said Jason Freidenberger, Vice President and General Manager of Nucor Steel South Carolina. “At Nucor, our teammates are deeply committed to the community where we live and work—a commitment we share with the Darlington Country Club. We look forward to seeing the positive impact that the Friends of Southern 500 Junior Golf will have on young golfers in our area, inspiring the next generation and strengthening our community for years to come.”
Over the past 100 years, Darlington Country Club has emerged as a beacon in the community, offering a wealth of amenities, including its challenging 18-hole course along Black Creek, a spacious and recently renovated clubhouse, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis and pickleball courts, delicious food, and versatile dining and meeting facilities. As DCC prepares to celebrate its Centennial in 2026, the future of the Club is indeed promising and bright.
Additional Centennial details, including event dates and registration information, will be shared in the coming weeks.
